If you missed it, the fine folks of the HarperCollins Union (UAW 2110) are on strike (and have been for a month, as of this posting). They’re seeking fair wages (publishing in general underpays its employees to a horrific degree), a more actionable commitment to diversity, and strengthened union security. These are not huge asks, and these talented, passionate, hard-working people deserve to have these demands met, like, yesterday.
(HC is owned by our least-favorite vulpine media baron; so that they haven’t come to the bargaining table is not a huge shocker.)
Want to help? There are a bunch of ways to support the union’s efforts, including donating to the solidarity fund, signing this open letter of support, or showing up for the rally on December 16th.
